Painting No 4: Glorious Persepolis… in my Dream

200x158cm Oil on Canvas 2001-2003
CHF 160’000.00

Illustrated, half awake
From the window of my mind…
Just the symbolic power,
Majestically… the ruins of Persepolis
Reminding us of the fragility
Yet the endurance
More than a hint of nostalgia
One great civilisation.

Abstract: A poetic tribute to the Palace of Persepolis. These impressive ruins, dating back 2,500 years, are situated 60 km Northeast of the ancient Persian city of Shiraz, Iran. Toppled columns, decorated and broken sculptures of majestic bulls and eroded carvings form an imaginary stony window.
